Lafarge H&S requirements are focused mainly on our efforts and decisions towards achieving continuous improvement of our H&S performance.
We believe H&S is a system driven process hence it must be implemented through a Management System which adds value to support processes.
The entire process is top driven hence it follows a structure as mentioned below:
Fig 2: Management System Model
Integration process of H&S must start at the inception of a project since H&S consideration must be addressed at the design stage, which also helps in optimizing the support process. In Lafarge, the H&S Strategy is implemented by supporting the value processes and other support processes.

The processes are always dynamic hence their effectiveness depends upon regular reviewing; constant efforts towards improvement in the H&S front; and most importantly establishing a learning system in H&S for ongoing development. The main step of this process is effective reporting of all accidents and incidents (near misses). This gives insight on the area of improvement. Lafarge has developed a huge database on such reportin g system which helps Lafarge sites to know the details of accidents & near misses, helps in taking corrective / preventive action without reinventing the wheels.
In the cement manufacturing process Lafarge has identified few critical areas like Conveyor Belt Safety, Lock out and Tag out (LOTO), road safety, working at height and working in confined space where constant upgradation in the working condition is the objective of all sites of the group.
